有这么一个奇怪的问题，我的本子是高清XGA，1400×1050的分辨率，但是在几种Linux下都只认到1280×1024（系统认为的硬件最高分辨率）,我已经把显示器设置成1400×1050甚至1600×1200,但无论如何，强制设置成1400×1050就成了虚拟桌面（桌面比屏幕大，左右移动鼠标到屏幕边缘时就会移动桌面）了，实在拿它没辙，在1280×1024下字体虚得厉害，真让人头疼。好象当时FC4可以认出来，很奇怪的。不知道弟兄们有没有什么办法帮我解决。

在我的IBM T23 Notebook上用SuSE 10.0, 分辨率1400x1050的支持很好,显示芯片为SuperSavage IX/C SDR (rev 05)
你说的问题,我想有几方面原因:
1. 你的设置不对, X服务器的配置文件中参数不对
再用你的桌面配置工具配置看看,能否奏效
如果熟悉的话,仔细检查/etc/X11/xorg.conf配置文件中各项数值
2. 你的Linux内核版本内建的驱动程序对你的显卡支持不好,它不能很好此次1400x1050
使用lspci 查看你机器上的图形芯片类型,
再搜索网上有无更新的驱动程序
一般来说,使用最新的2.6内核支持是比较好的,我的2.6.13
