Hello,
I installed Kubuntu 5.10 last weekend to replace Mandriva2005LE. I had no problems with Mandriva getting my sound working after a few hours poking around. This time, not the case.
I have tried alsaconf, which doesn't autodetect my sound card for some reason.
I have determined that alsa is compiled into my kernel, so creating a module seems to be out of the question.
My sound card seems to be installed, and operational, yet I have no audio.
All the sound players run seemingly okay, yet no audio.
I have tried artsd and esd, both run ok, but no audio.
I have tried terminating the sound daemon's and going from the app straight into the alsa driver, but no audio.
I have run alsamixer, and everything is ok. I then did alsactl store. Nothing.
kmix shows volumes all up, and non-muted.
I'm stumped, and at my wits end with Kubuntu.
