HD audio on Debian 2.4

Hi all

i just installed Debian 3.1 from a net cd using the standard kernel 2.4.27-2-386, installed ALSA drivers correctly using apt-get, the only problemi is that debian wont find my audio card (Realtek HD audio)... what can i do?!?!? do i have to recompile the kernel?? please im going mad!
