Logitech USB stopped working with X-Lite (xten)

I'm using (have been for months) a Logitech USB headset for X-Lite (xten). It 'was' working just fine until a couple of days ago. "Soundcard detection" finds it, plays the 3 strums, /dev/dsp1 shows up. KMix has it. Xten fires up, see dsp1, but no mic, no sound. /dev/dsp works but that's the speakers. I saw something very late the other night about 2.6.14-1.1644_FC4 breaking USB sound. But 1644 got loaded in December. Any pointers?
