Hello all. Quite the newbie in the world of Linux and trying to teach myself what I can. Been reading as many posts as I can but cant quite seem to find the right answers. Heres the scoop:
SuSe Linux 10.1 running w/ ATI Rage Mobility X1300 Video card. My default video is "Vesa Graphics" with the only option being 800 X 600. I downloaded and began the install of the ATI driver from their website. Upon running aticonfig per the ATI webpage and restarting the computer as directed Linux loads to a command prompt only. Unable to start X. I have tried this several times all with the same results. Like I said, I'm a newbie of extreme sorts but cant figure out whats going wrong. I'm all for learning on my own if someone can point me in a very good direction for reading purposes, and I'm definitely all for anyone pointing out what I might need to do to get this configured correctly.
try sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx
