Here are a few things i'd like to know,...
When anyone calls on the phone, i want his/her number it to be display it on screen...
also when he/she calls up there should be an alert on the computer too...
i know it can be done thru modems but dnt know how.. does modems require compatibility for this type of system..
assume that the phone company provides Caller line identification service...

its called wake on modem or something like that. it will disconnect you from the net. you will need to do some tinkering to do it though. I have no clue how to get the message to pop up when a person calls however.
