no antialiasing in gtk2 / SuSe 10.2

Searched the google beyond and above, found nothing useful.

Here's the problem. My GNOME font rendering settings doesn't seem to work in gtk2 applications (such as FireFox).

gnome-settings-daemon is on
GDK_USE_XFT=1
xorg.conf configured correctly, 96dpi & DisplaySize 338 270 (for 1024х768), fontpaths set.
In about:config in FireFox-е freetype support is enabled?
using SuSe 10.2, gtk 2.10.6-13

what's wrong? what's left? any ideas?
