I would like to download and install Debian 4.0.
I'm having trouble understanding how to use this.  Which .jigdo files and .template files do I need to download for Debian 4.0 stable version.

I would appreciate help in installing this version.

I looked at that webpage.  I'm still unclear about what to do.  I entered the command jigdo-lite; I'm not sure what to enter here.
From what I understand I went to the page: Downloading CD Images with jigdo, and selected: Official Images: i386.
Do I need to download all the files listed as .template and .jigdo?
How do I enter them in at the jigdo-lite prompt?

How is using jigdo better than downloading an iso image; isn't the CD image downloaded?

Thanks.

Then look at this HOWTO:
http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Debian-Jigdo/

You will find here everything. If it's still unclear, just write and I (or somebody else) will try to explain it.

I looked at the how-to you suggested.  I'm still unclear about how to do this:
I went to: http://www.debian.org/CD/jigdo-cd/#which to Official imagesi386 and found the .jigdo and .template files.
Do I download them and then use jigdo-lite or is the program supposed to download them?

When I run jigdo-lite do I give the url: Index of /debian-cd/4.0_r0/i386/jigdo-cd where the .jigdo and .template files are located?
Do I need to specify each file?

Sorry for the trouble I just find this confusing.

Thanks.

You need to specify each file. When it asks the URL, you need to add the URL of the file like this:
http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/i386/jigdo-cd/debian-40r0-i386-CD-1.jigdo

After downloading the ISO files, the program will tell you whether the md5sum is correct. If it is correct, you can burn the images.

I specified the file. I got a few of the files to download, but can't download the rest.  It keeps asking for files to scan, and I put the url in there.  It gives me a lot of error messages.

It keeps asking for files to scan

When it asks this, just simple press Enter without giving any URL.
