O.K., out of no where my named dameon stopped working. I did some FC3 updates awhile ago, but didn't actually restart my server until the other day. Now my "system logger" fails at boot along with "named". Boot also takes a long time, kinda hangs for awhile. Once I get into the O.S. I try to start named manually and I get this:
Starting named: named: chroot(): Permission denied
Anyone know what might be going on here?

Can u please provide the log file? I think this will more helpful for help you to resove this problem. I can only determine there is some permission problem when you use chroot() to start your named, so if you can provide that, maybe we can find more information.

I had something similar happen to me on FC3.
SElinux was blocking my custom zone files. I edited the /etc/selinux/config to disable it and restarted. Took care of it.
