As I read many places that I should have the file : mysql.so in my modules directory and then check my php.ini to make sure that extensions=mysql.so is active
I have downloaded the module that u recommended but I am not sure if I choose the right version ,,, but I tried the one meets my system Fedora5 and distribute the files with the same skeleton in the directories , but still the same ..
any body like to have a remote look on the problem I can offer root access

Thanks .. it is working now .. I just choose the right version php-mysql-5.1.4-1.i386.rpm But get this error The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using a multibyte charset. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable to split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results.
Do I need to install mbstring PHP and where to download the compatible file
Best Regards

Use in the console:
rpm -R packagename.rpm It will show the dependencies. Past the result here, if you need help.
