Hi Patrick,

Glad to hear that, I just switched to a 64 bit amd and DFI nf3 m/b
and was wondering if it is premature to setup RC1 on it.
Broke away from xp on the old box and setup 10.1 pp on it and will
probably update it to RC2 this weekend. Have been away from MDK for awhile
but still lurking here during the interim. AOLM has always been my
favorite NG.

I ran thru a trial setup of RC2 to get the feel of it and must say that it
looks very good indeed. I like the new option to download the CD's to
harddrive, but they seemed very slow to process on my setup, did you try
that option?( if it is in the 64 RC1). You were one of the early adopters
of the 64 bit OS if I recall correctly, do you have any experience with
the nvidia graphics cards? I have a gt6800 ultra and was wondering if  it
may be too new for it to be recognized ? Anyway I i will most likely give
64 RC1 a try soon, just to get away from xp again.

Have Fun,

one thing i want to mention is that i got me
a toshiba dvd writer and that after i torrented
the dvd for rc1 i burned it too fast the first time
and it wouldnt install. i used k3b. so if i do
jump in be sure and burn your dvd or your cds for that matter
a little slower than u would think u could.

this is the first time i burned something in k3b that
didnt work.

anyway, it looks good, the new music for events
is much better, its very stable and fast.

also crobo mentioned that audigy didnt work.
i use soundblaster live and it works great.

I have used it for about a week, but do have some problems, cannot start
firefox, konqueror doesn't always start, fails to launch flphoto when I
plug in my Digicam (works on 10.1)and a few other niggles. Amarok didn't
work at first now cured by changing to the Arts sound engine. Niggles apart
to be solved this weekend It looks like a good new distro version.

Non club members can download the CD version ISOs off the mirrors.

Have you tried using the snd-emu10k1 driver with that Audigy?

i believe there isnt going to be a rc2. its going gold in a few days.

i checked out the bugzilla place the other day and there were only 11 bugs
in the rc1. hopefully they were all reported.

the latest nvidia driver in in the release candidate 1. it the 71 something
driver. i believe there is support for the 6800 series video cards. i cant
imagine the performance u will have with that video card. i want to get one
sometime in the future also to do sli with the new epox motherboard i
want :)

that is what I have thought also, just need time to comfirm it.

The Gt6800 ultra has really impressed me  in XP, I use it for solid
modeling with Solidworks 2005, Sorry there is no linux port of it (Yet).
and games are very fast and reallistic (built a gaming box for my buddy
using the same setup in XP) not a gamer myself, but have enjoyed the
visuals on Doom 3, Far Cry, and Flatout. Also the 3d demo of Dawn is a
real blast.

Thanks again Patrick for the followup.
