Ok, I've run into a problem with a usb pendrive too:

[root@g306-0165 removable]# ls -l
total 43504
-rwxrwxrwx  1 root root 39866435 Mar 30 09:55
AdobeReader_enu-7.0.0-1.i386.rpm*
-rwxrwxrwx  1 root root  4666293 Apr  1 13:26
NuSMV-2.2.4-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz*
drwxrwxrwx  5 root root     8192 Mar 18 10:40 test_suite/
[root@g306-0165 removable]# rm AdobeReader_enu-7.0.0-1.i386.rpm
rm: remove regular file `AdobeReader_enu-7.0.0-1.i386.rpm'? y
rm: cannot remove `AdobeReader_enu-7.0.0-1.i386.rpm': Read-only file system
[root@g306-0165 removable]#

The same results occur as user and root. I can't delete anything but I
CAN copy data to the pendrive which indicates it is NOT read only.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Lionel.

Just a thought, I know my pen drive has a switch on it which makes it read
only.

Thanks, mine does too, but I can copy data to it, I just can't delete
data that is on it.

So could you tell us that when you copy to the USB mass storage device,
where is the switch?

ie, can you delete if you switch the switch?

Trust you can see what I am asking here.

Sorry, it was clear in my head :). If I move the switch I can only read,
I can't delete and I can't copy to the device.

Lionel.
