hi there I always get stuck on a weird screen which displays nothing usable (only stripes and strange forms) if I try to start a game in linux. I do know that they want the screen to be at a res of 640 times 480. I tried to switch my screen output in kde to that resolution - result: weird stripes and forms. I have my xfree86 configured with vesa and possible resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and the 1280x1040. strange thing here is that I can't use the highest resolution, even though I do have a 19 inch flatscreen with support for that. my graphics card is also ok with that resolution, its an ati radeon 9200SE (or 9600SE, don't know it any more, but it's one of these two) anyway, it works with both resolutions in windows, but I don't like windows too much. what can I do to make the both resolutions work? (the highest and the lowest don't work and 800x600 doesn't work too, the only one working is 1024x768)
