ok i need some tips about good n64 emulators on linux. i got mupen to work but it runs very slowly on the lowest resolution. any help would be greatly appreciated

That might help you. I don't really know. Emulators are essentially illegal and do not partake.
...unless I have any desire whatsoever for anything that costs money.

They are legal it's just the roms are not.
Mupen64 worked well for me, you just need to pick the right driver for each game, some work better than overs. Alot of rams i've played work spot on in 1280x1024.
