Im settings up a fileserver thats going to be accessed through SFTP only.  I need to have a group of users that have xrw, one user that has xr, and another that just has x.  Is there anyway to get this accomplished?  The only thing these accounts will be used for is this file access, so I can do anything to the usernames/groups that is nessisary.

Hello,

yes you can easily do this with acl (acess control list)... if they are already installed you should have command like getfacl or setfacl

QUOTE
and another that just has x.

note that it is useless to have x rights if you don't have r rigths...

Ya, the only x thing...didn't try it out.  I assumed it would let a user see what's in a folder without being able to read anything.  I will prob make a php script for this if no one knows of a way to do this with reg linux permissions.  However, using the php script for this would also prevent me from having to use acl.  Maybe this is the way to go.
